The Clippers beat the Lakers 112-102 in the California classic for the first NBA date from the Staples Center. The top scorer was Kawhi Leonard with 30 points.
Kawhi Leonard began his adventure on Tuesday with the Los Angeles Clippers scoring 30 points, in a 112-102 victory over LeBron James and the Lakers of the same city.
In the inaugural meeting of the campaign for both teams, the Clippers substitutes also stood out. Lou Williams contributed 21 points and Montrezl Harrell added 17.
The Clippers began their 50th season and 36th in Los Angeles with a new investiture. Many now consider them favorites to win the NBA title, which would be the first in the history of the organization.
For their part, the Lakers had the first opportunity to show their new star pool, made up of James and Anthony Davis. Davis scored 25 points, hitting nine of 14 free throws, while James added 18 points.
Danny Green beat them both with 28 points.
But Leonard contributed enough, even without Paul George by his side, inactive for an indefinite period while recovering from a couple of shoulder surgeries he underwent in the recess prior to this nascent campaign.
